Football Names Ambrose as Interim Head Coach

The University at Albany’s football team announced last week that Jared Ambrose will take over as the team's interim head coach for the 2025 season.

Ambrose was UAlbany’s offensive coordinator and quarterback coach since 2022, as well as the Associate Head Coach for the last two seasons.


Ambrose was a prominent part of UAlbany’s success in 2023, which included the program's first CAA title and FCS semifinals appearance. He led an offense that accounted for 52 touchdowns and more than 5,500 yards on the year and was one of the most lethal units in the CAA.


Before UAlbany, Ambrose spent 10 years with Towson University, including seven as the squad’s offensive coordinator. As the O.C., Towson made three FCS Playoff appearances and a 2013 FCS Championship game appearance. 


After his time at Towson, Ambrose was the offensive coordinator for the University of Delaware for three years. In those three seasons, the Blue Hens Won a CAA title and made an FCS Semifinals appearance.


During the 2021 season, Delaware running back Dejoun Lee was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Year, and his offense was ranked fifth in the nation.


Throughout his years as an offensive coordinator, each program Ambrose was with made the FCS playoffs at least once while he was the O.C.
