The University at Albany men's basketball team came from behind late in the game to defeat the Binghamton Bearcats on the road Wednesday night.
It was a highly contested game that featured 15 lead changes and seven ties and UAlbany found themselves down six with less than two minutes left. The Great Danes, however, who have fought through adversity all season, rallied in the closing moments for an improbable win on the road.
Jarvis Doles was the star of the evening Wednesday night. Doles finished with 21 points, going 8-11 from the field and perfect 5-5 from three-point range, and his three with 48.1 seconds left on the clock put the Great Danes up for good.
The Great Danes’ second-half offense overall fueled the road victory. UAlbany shot 58.3% from the field and 55.6% from three in the second half.
Joining Doles in double figures for UAlbany was Matt Cerruti with (16), Jamel Horton with (13), and Paul Newman with (11). Horton led the team with six assists and tied with Cerruti to lead the team in steals – both collecting three. It was a complete effort for the Great Danes.
"It's a great win for us, I'm really proud of our guys,” said UAlbany Head Coach Dwayne Killings. “I thought we overcame a bunch of adversity in the game. We were in a hole there, and I think it could have been easy to panic, but our huddle was very calm… It was a great win for us."
The Great Danes return to SEFCU Arena on Saturday for Senior Day as they take on the University of New Hampshire.
