This weekend the UAlbany Men's and Women's Cross Country Team participated in Saturday's America Pre-Conference at New Hampshire.
The women's team put on a solid performance coming in fourth overall as a team. Freshman standout Tess Fitzmaurice came in fourth place with a great time of 18:17.5. Fitzmaurice was the top-finishing freshman, one spot ahead of Binghamton's Sheridan Talada, who finished in 18:18.4. Kaitlyn Locca finished second for the Great Danes and 13th overall with a time of 18:39.3. The women's scoring gap was 1:05.5 seconds.
Binghamton placed three in the top five to claim the team title with 34 points, led by Emily Mackay, who ran a fantastic time of 17:21.8, comfortably ahead of host New Hampshire who finished with 55 points.
The men’s team struggled during the meet, finishing in last place with an average time of 27:28. For the second-straight week, Antonio Beltran was the top men's team finisher, placing eighth overall in 25:45.1. Freshman Keveroy Venson was UAlbany's second finisher, placing 41st overall with a time of 27:25.5. The men's scoring gap was 2:26.3 seconds.
Binghamton also won the men's race, placing four in the top seven and five in the top 10. They were led by Dan Schaffer, who came in first place with a time of 24:36.1, scoring 28 points ahead of runner-up Vermont with 56 points.
Next Friday, UAlbany visits Franklin Park in Boston for the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, looking to improve on this week’s performance.
