Indoor Track & Field Ends Regular Season at West Point Tuneup

UAlbany’s distance runners and pole vaulters came to West Point for one last regular season meet on a Saturday that saw victory in two different events.


In a 15-member women’s mile race, the Danes earned places four through six, with Sydney Coddington, Lejla Hrejla, and Amanda Chambers finishing at respective times of 5:21.61, 5:35.77, and 5:50.11.


Kaitlyn Butterfield was the only UAlbany participant in the women’s 800m, placing at third of 21 with a time of 2:24.07. On the men’s side, the 38-participant 800m saw eighth and 18th place finishes from Lenny Diaz and Liam Danaher, with respective marks of 1:59.90 and 2:03.49.


UAlbany showed out for the 1000m, with both the men and women taking first and second in each race. Jared Rogalski, who finished at 2:30.39, was shortly followed by Keveroy Venson at 2:32.76. On the other side, Sam Rutt took first at 2:57.18, with Erin Hayes coming in next at 3:10.52.


The Danes’ two pole vaulters, Hannah Solomon-Hollander and Paige Brinsko finished the 13-member women’s event at seventh and eighth respectively, both clearing 9-10.50 ft.


With regular season competition in the rearview, UAlbany will shoot for the conference title next weekend at the 2022 America East Indoor Championships at Boston University.
