The seconds hand is fast.
You can see the time burn,
Though it’s slow against the last.
The minutes hand is firm.
It crawls as you view it.
It often defines the term.
The hours hand is creeping.
Shows no signs when watched.
Though these hours can be fleeting.
We live by these three hands:
Seconds, minutes, and hours.
They will move against our plans.
Want to move by seconds?
Hours will take their grim share,
Moved by the scythe’s beckons.
The hands can be shifted,
Dial spun, time reversed.
Time, however, marches forever onward.
