The past week saw the following outcomes for University at Albany sports:
Men’s basketball celebrates winning the Albany Cup on Sunday.

Tuesday, Nov. 21:
Men’s basketball bested Army by a score of 62-59 at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls. A pull-up three pointer by Sebastian Thomas in the final minute of the game sealed the win for the Great Danes, who improved to a record of 2-3.
Thomas led the way in scoring for UAlbany with 17 points, followed by Amar’e Marshall and Aaron Reddish with 16 each. Jonathan Beagle recorded 11 rebounds in the effort.
Wednesday, Nov. 22:
Women’s basketball won at Cornell by a score of 57-45. The Great Danes’ defense shined, led by Kayla Cooper who recorded nine rebounds and two blocks. They also racked up seven steals in the effort, led by Deja Evans with two.
Helene Haegerstrand led the way offensively with 17 points, followed by Evans with 15 and Lilly Phillips with 10 as the Great Danes improved to 3-1.
Sunday, Nov. 26:
Men’s basketball brought home the Albany Cup with a 86-51 blowout over Siena at MVP Arena. The Great Danes held Siena to a 32.8% mark from the field, while shooting 51.5% themselves.
Amar’e Marshall led the Great Danes with a career-high 33 points, and recorded a team-high eight rebounds. Jonathan Beagle led the team in minutes with 32, finishing with 13 points and 7 rebounds as UAlbany improved to 3-3.
Women’s basketball suffered a 79-35 loss at #4 Stanford, fighting back the whole match from an 11-0 run by Stanford to open the game. Kayla Cooper led with 16 points, and Gabriela Falcão recorded three steals in just eight minutes on the court. The Great Danes shot just 25% from the field, falling to 4-2.
