Sports Summary (8/11- 8/25)

The past two weeks saw the following results for the following University at Albany sports:  

 

 Goalkeeper Daniel Shannon (#0) capturing a save over LIU midfielder Joshua Saavedra (#10). Shannon recorded four saves during the UAlbany men’s soccer team's 1-0 loss on Sunday afternoon.

Saturday, Aug. 17:


Women’s soccer beat LIU 3-1 in their first home game of the season. The Great Danes outshot their opponents 18-13 in their come-from-behind victory. Sydney Kofton, Casey Stowell, and Hailey Hnis each scored one goal. Goalkeeper Emily Dorfman recorded two saves. Women’s soccer improved their record to 1-0.

 

Thursday, Aug. 22:


Men’s soccer beat Niagra 3-2 in their first game of the season. The Great Danes recorded 15 shots on goal and took three corner kicks. Timo Jansen led the team with one goal and one assist. Pedro Lucas also scored one goal. Lucas Watt recorded one assist. Goalkeeper Daniel Shannon recorded six saves. The Great Danes improved their record to 1-0.  

 

Women’s soccer lost to Monmouth 6-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Dorfman recorded 11 saves in the match. UAlbany did not record any shots on goal and ended the match with four fouls. The Great Danes fell to a record of 1-1.  


Sunday, Aug. 25:


Women’s soccer lost to Fordham 4-2. The Great Danes recorded four shots and were awarded four corner kicks. Casey Stowell recorded one goal, and the second goal was courtesy of a free kick by Madison Hnis, which ricocheted off the head of a defender and into the goal. Goalkeeper Emily Dorfman recorded seven saves. Women’s soccer now stands at a record of 1-2. 

 

Men’s soccer lost to LIU 1-0 in their first home game of the season. The Great Danes recorded 10 shots on goal and were awarded three corner kicks. Goalkeeper Daniel Shannon recorded four saves. Men’s soccer now stands at a record of 1-1.
