Are you finally sick of Starbucks?
Skyline Coffee Co. is an organic specialty coffee shop located on Madison Avenue in downtown Albany, filled with fellow students.
The small coffee shop employs many students and offers a 15% discount for students with a valid school ID.
“It’s really nice because we’re students ourselves,” Sarah Irish, a manager at Skyline for the past two years, says. “I’d say three quarters of the people who work here are students, so we get it.”
What makes Skyline special is their dedication to using natural and organic ingredients.
“The thing that sets us apart here is that we’re all organic,” says Irish. “All of our milk is from a local dairy farm down the road, all of our pastries are organic from Bread Alone Bakery, and our donuts are Cider Belly Donuts which is a local Albany bakery.”
The coffee is sourced from Tierra Farm, a certified organic farm 20 miles south of Albany. Their coffee beans can be found and purchased at Skyline for those that are fond of brewing a morning cup of coffee themselves.
Skyline’s space is open and has a wealth of natural lighting provided by its large front windows.
“It’s a great spot for students,” says Irish. “There’s free Wi-Fi, people bring their laptops and have study groups.”
The shop has been an inviting spot for the local community and students.
“This has been a hub for the community for all ages,” Irish says. “It’s great to really get to know the people that come in here and build rapport with them.”
Skyline Coffee Co. is open seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends. For more information, check out their Facebook by searching Skyline Coffee Co.
