The University at Albany women’s soccer team lost 2-0 against Siena Wednesday, moving to 1-7 for the season.
Siena came out the first half strong with four shots in the first five minutes. UAlbany’s defense stood firm with goalkeeper Emily Dorfman making five saves and the defenders clearing the ball off the line to prevent a goal.
In the 36th minute, Siena’s Annie Bagnall head shot the ball into the net from a corner, breaking the deadlock. The Great Danes withstood Siena’s pressure for the rest of the half.
Siena started the second half where they left off, with Bagnall shooting the ball into the top left corner from the side of the box to make the score 2-0 Siena. UAlbany responded quickly with Sydney Waits striking the ball against the crossbar.
The Great Danes ended the second half well with three shots in the last 10 minutes, but were unable to score.
Siena outshot UAlbany 29 to 12. Dorfman led the match in saves with eight, adding to her national ranking of 8.86 saves per match, which is second amongst NCAA goalies.
