When it comes to making friends during a pandemic, your options can be pretty limited. Being on campus can feel empty and lonely at times. The University at Albany has resources that you may not know about to help you make connections virtually and safely.

Clubs are listed conveniently in one place on MyInvolvement. You can browse these clubs ranging from sports to academics. Some of the few clubs that are offered include Albany Outreach for Animals, Building Ladies up, and Middle Earth Peer Assistance Program, different clubs also may have different ways of meeting. When you find a club you like, click into it to get all the contact information to reach out and get involved.

Do you have Facebook? Log in and find your class Facebook group! Only students in your graduating year can join. Members create new posts everyday seeking others in the same classes, posting new club opportunities, searching for recommendations, you name it. It is an open place to connect with students in your graduating class.

Today at UAlbany on Outlook

“Today at UAlbany” provides you with knowledge surrounding campus updates. Opportunities are sprinkled in like the opening of the art museum to explore safely with friends or on your own. Look for their near daily automatic emails from Today at UAlbany sent to your Outlook account.

The pandemic doesn’t have to stop you from reaching your goals. UAlbany offers group exercise to keep you motivated. You can join a class and meet new people with similar goals. These classes vary from yoga to HIIT to strength workouts to get up and get active.


Are you creative? Have you ever thought about starting your own podcast? YouTube channel? Now is the perfect time. The IMC hosts free virtual workshops to get you started on your journey. These classes are smaller, making it easier to form connections and creative relationships.
