As the Great Danes prepared for the MAAC Championships they were able to overcome a slow start and move up two team spots and finish fourth overall out of seven teams at the Hartford/Gillette Ridge Invitational.
The Great Danes performance on Day Two was a huge part of them overcoming adversity and finishing fourth overall as they had the lowest score that day with 318 points.
Madison Walker was a huge part of the Great Danes performance. Walker led the way on day one with a 79 (+7) to finish the day in fifth place in the second round of the tournament.
Senior Pasqualina Tartaglione, who was named to MAAC All-Academic Team, golfed a team-low 75 (+3) to move up 17 spots from 26th to 9th place.
Sophomore Katelin Richards, with a 166 36-hole score which was third for Albany and 16th overall
Head Coach Colleen Cashmen addressed the team’s start. “We are typically a slow-starting team and it's a bit difficult when we are playing only 18 holes. Today, we came back tougher and fired the lowest team round of the day, which was nice to see,” she said. “The seniors each had good rounds on each of the days to help lead the way. We just need the bottom of the lineup to be a bit more consistent and post scores that can help. Next week, we will see what we can do as we begin the MAAC Championship."
The Great Danes finish the season next weekend as they will compete in the MAAC Championships.
