The University at Albany women’s soccer team’s season came to an end in a 3-2 loss at

home against Hartford.

Hartford struck early with two goals in the first 16 minutes - one from Victoria

Jedrychowski, followed four minutes later by one from America East Midfielder of the Year

Sierra Stone. The Great Danes rebounded with two consecutive strikes from Leah Pais and

Meghan Cavanaugh to tie the game 2-2 by the 48 minute mark.

After a shot that hit the crossbar, Hartford’s Bridgette Alexander would bury the rebound

in what stood at the game-winning goal.

“They [Hartford] came out really strong,” said head coach Nick Bochette. “I was happy

with the rest of the game, we fought back and were gritty … But they had a game plan coming in and they executed it well.”

The Great Danes had two All-Conference First Team selections, Jada Colbert and

Meghan Cavanaugh, and three Second Team selections, Jasmine Colbert, Gina Barcamonte and Hailey Summers.

Pais was named America East Rookie of the Year and to the America East All-Rookie

team where she was joined by Sahara Zingano. Pais is the team’s second-consecutive Rookie of the Year selection (Jada Colbert ’18).

UAlbany will not have a chance to defend their 2018 America East Title, as their season

ends with a 9-6-3 overall record and 6-1-1 conference record, which won them a share of the

regular season title with Stony Brook.

The Great Danes will graduate three of their 11 starters, Bracamonte, Kimberly Dieroff

and Claire Stackel ahead of the 2020 season.
