The past week saw the following outcomes for University at Albany sports:


Sebastian Thomas’ 19.6 points per game ranks second in the America East.

Tuesday, March 5:

Men’s basketball fell to Bryant 83-79. The Great Danes shot 39.2% from the field on 31-79 shooting, going 9-27 from the 3-point arc and 8-16 from the free throw line. Muneer Newton led in scoring with 20 points, followed by Sebastian Thomas with 19, and Amar’e Marshall with 14. Newton led in rebounds with 11, and Thomas in assists with six. UAlbany fell to a record of 13-18, and 5-11 in America East play.


Friday, March 8:

Women’s basketball beat NJIT 57-42 in the first round of the America East Tournament. The Great Danes shot 43.1% from the field on 22-51 shooting, going 4-12 from the 3-point arc and 9-14 from the free throw line. Kayla Cooper led in points with 14, followed by Megan Huerter with 10. Deja Evans led in rebounds with eight, and Lilly Phillips in assists with four. UAlbany now stands at a record of 25-5, and 13-3 in America East play.


Softball fell to Fairleigh Dickinson 3-2. The Great Danes recorded eight hits. Morgan Petty went 1-4 with a home run, recording two RBI’s. Wendi Hammond pitched 3.0 innings, recorded one strikeout, and was charged with the loss. UAlbany fell to a record of 5-5.


Softball beat Fairleigh Dickinson 9-1. The Great Danes recorded nine hits and two errors. Maddi Petrella and Mary Kate Murray each recorded two RBI’s. Kate Powers pitched 3.0 innings, recorded two strikeouts, and earned the win. UAlbany now stands at a record of 6-5.


Saturday, March 9:

Men’s basketball fell to Vermont 75-72 in the first round of the America East Tournament. The Great Danes shot 46.6% from the field on 27-58 shooting, going 8-22 from the 3-point arc and 10-10 from the free throw line. Sebastian Thomas led in points with 31, followed by Amar’e Marshall with 13, and Muneer Newton with 10. Newton led in rebounds with nine, and Marshall led in assists with six. UAlbany finished their season with a record of 13-19, going 5-11 in America East play.


Men’s lacrosse beat Hobart 14-10. The Great Danes took 46 shots, with 32 shots on goal, recording 10 turnovers. Graydon Hogg led in goals with five. Goalkeeper Landon Whitney recorded eight saves. UAlbany now stands at a record of 1-4.


Baseball fell to Purdue 11-3. The Great Danes recorded 11 hits and one error. Will Binder, Jared Toby, and Justin Hurd each recorded one RBI. Matthew Mariano pitched 2.2 innings, recorded three strikeouts, and was charged with the loss. UAlbany fell to a record of 0-7.


Baseball fell to Purdue 6-1. The Great Danes recorded five hits and one error. Luke Filippi recorded one RBI. Owen Birkman pitched 5.0 innings, recorded five strikeouts, and was charged with the loss. UAlbany fell to a record of 0-8.


Sunday, March 10:

Women’s lacrosse fell to Northwestern 25-8. The Great Danes took 18 shots, with 13 shots on goal, recording 18 turnovers. Grace McCauley led in goals with three, and Katie Pascale led in assists with three. Goalkeeper Grace Cincebox recorded five saves. UAlbany now stands at a record of 1-6.


Baseball fell to Purdue 16-6. The Great Danes recorded 10 hits and two errors. Cooper Loyal recorded two RBI’s. Luke Boule pitched 1.0 innings, recorded two strikeouts, and was charged with the loss. UAlbany fell to a record of 0-9.


Baseball fell to Purdue 12-1. The Great Danes recorded five hits and one error. Luke Myers recorded one RBI. Kyle Locklear pitched 3.0 innings, recorded two strikeouts, and was charged with the loss. UAlbany now stands at a record of 0-10.
