The University at Albany has expanded their mental health resources for students by introducing a new partnership with a third-party service provider, TimelyCare starting from this academic year.

TimelyCare provides UAlbany students, whether they live on or off campus, with 24/7 access to virtual mental health and wellbeing resources. The platform has a “TalkNow” feature that offers on-demand mental health counselors with an average wait time of five minutes.

Students can also receive access to both medical and mental health providers, health coaching, basic needs resources and self-care tools, such as yoga and meditation. TimelyCare offers support during evenings, weekends, holiday breaks and summer, helping reduce wait times throughout the semester.

This new platform complements and expands resources offered by the university in addition to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Middle Earth, Health Promotion and Recreation and Wellness. It enhances the university’s existing medical and mental health resources while sustaining its ongoing commitment to student success and well-being.

The partnership builds on UAlbany’s mission as a Health Promoting University by expanding access to equitable mental health services, including a diverse and multilingual provider network trained in culturally competent care.

“At UAlbany, the health and well-being of our students are a priority, and that means removing barriers that can stand in the way of their success,” said Joyce DeWitt-Parker, assistant vice president for health and well-being. “We know students need support that fits into their lives — not just their class schedules. TimelyCare helps us meet students where they are and together with the University’s in-person services, we can provide care they can count on.”

Students can access TimelyCare through cellphones, tablets and other devices. Access to TimelyCare services is free, and insurance is not needed to speak with a provider.

For more information, students can download the TimelyCare app on their phones or visit the university’s website.
