On Sept. 3rd, the University at Albany Student Association held its annual Block Party event where more than 180 student organizations tabled and showcased their work in the academic podium. This year’s theme was Comic Con. Here are this year’s most eye-catching costumes:

Names: Eric Walter, Ari Klein, Aiden Giglio
Costumes: Eric and Ari are men-at-arms from the early 15th century, Aiden is a man-at-arms from the 12th century
About: Eric made both his and Ari’s costumes on his own using recycled metal. All three of them are members of the Living History Club, with Ari and Aiden majoring in history.

Name: Tommy Stark
Costume: Doomguy from the video game Doom
About: Tommy is a huge fan of the game “Doom Eternal,” and he has been playing the Doom video games for most of his life. It took him three months to make the costume, which was built from 3-D printed plastic and welded together using metal.

Name: Kaitlyn Reedy
Costume: Spider-Woman
About: Kaitlyn bought her costume about a year ago off of Amazon, so she felt it was perfect to wear for the Comic Con themed Block party.

Name: Henry Scholl
Costume: Medieval Plague Doctor
About: Henry sewed this costume together on his own over the course of a month. He felt inspired to wear this costume because he thinks plague doctors are cool, and he’s also a public health major.

Costume: Sailor Moon
About: Arianny ordered her costume off of Amazon.

Name: Alex Wigodsky
Costume: Tanjiro Kamado from the show “Demon Slayer”
About: Alex got the costume from Spirit Halloween after being inspired by the show.

Name: Michael Martin
Costume: Pikachu from Pokémon
About: Michael bought this inflatable suit for the New York City Comic Con this coming October, so he also decided to use it to dress up for Block Party this year.
