The University at Albany women’s lacrosse team was defeated by No. 25 University of Connecticut, 15-4, on Saturday.

UConn started the game with a pair of goals within the first three minutes, the first of which was a free-position goal.
UAlbany scored the next two of the game, with one goal coming from Ava Poupard and the other from Mikaela Mooney.
Despite tying the game, the rest of the quarter was dominated by UConn. The Huskies scored four more times before the end of the quarter to make the score 6-2 after one.
The second quarter started with a five-minute scoring drought, which was eventually ended by a goal from the Huskies’ Rayea Davis, her third of the game. UConn continued to control the game, outscoring the Great Danes 5-0 in the second to make the score 11-2 at the half.
Coming out of the half, the Huskies scored yet again within the first minute of the third to put the score at 12-2.
UAlbany scored again when Poupard netted her second of the game with 8:50 left in the third, but the Huskies scored one of their own with under a minute in the quarter to make it 13-3.
UConn then scored within the first three minutes of the fourth quarter to put them up by 11.
The Great Danes’ next goal came courtesy of Dylana Williams with just under three minutes to go. The Huskies responded with a goal within the last 60 seconds, the final goal of the game to make it 15-4.
With the loss, UAlbany falls to 1-4 while UConn is now 5-2.
The Great Danes’ next matchup will be on Wednesday, March 12, when they take on No.1 Boston College at John Fallon Field. The game is set to start at 3:00 pm.
