Are you looking for something heartfelt to give to that special person in your life this Valentine’s Day? Want to spice things up and be a little creative? Here’s a list of seven homemade gifts that are creative, heartfelt, and won’t take too much of a toll on your time, or your wallet.

  1. Messages in a Bottle

Here’s something simple to start things off! This is one of the easier crafts to do, but you can make it as minimalistic or as flashy as you want. There’s many ways to do it, one of which is explained here in this video. The basic idea is to write some nice messages on separate small slips of paper. Then, fold up each piece of paper to hide the message and put them all into some sort of container. You can put a little note on top, and a little ribbon wouldn’t hurt either!

  1. Candy Poems

What’s sweeter than “I Love You?” Candy! Try constructing a poem that uses the names of their favorite candies. For example, you could write, “Loving you makes me feel like a 100 GRAND” or “You’re my LIFESAVER” and stick the corresponding candy on the poster or card.

  1. Scrapbooks

What’s better than a handmade book? Most hardcover scrapbooks can be pretty expensive, so here’s an easy-to-follow guide to make your own book out of card paper. Inside, you can arrange photos, messages, and memories in a single stylish gift.

  1. Exploding Photo Box

This is sure to be a fun gift, as well as a great way to remind your valentine of your favorite moments together. For this, you’ll need at least 3 different colors of paper, a ruler, scissors, a pencil, and glue. Watch this video for a step-by-step guide. You can put different things inside the box such as photos, or even candy!

  1. Cards

This is a tried and true way to let someone know you care! If you’re looking for something that breaks the traditional mold, try some of these creative designs. You’ll need two different colored card paper, a glue stick, scissors, a ruler, and some markers. Stickers are always a nice final touch!

  1. Origami Heart Rings

Want something cute and fun to wear? Try making some origami heart rings! You can even make yourself a matching one. There are many different kinds to make, so for an easier one, click here. If you want more of a challenge, try this.
